Amazing K Nails Press-on Artistry Competition at the Midwest Tradeshow Chicago 2025 Collaborators

The Amazing K Nails Press-on Artistry Competition is an exciting event that brings together talented nail artists from across the region to showcase their creativity and skill. Held at the prestigious Midwest Tradeshow Chicago at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, IL, this competition features two distinct categories:

• Students/Novices: Competing with the theme "Under the Sea," students will create vibrant and imaginative designs inspired by the ocean, including elements like sea creatures, coral reefs, waves, underwater plants, and marine life. Think about vibrant colors, fluid patterns, and imaginative representations of the underwater world.

• Professionals: Competing with the theme "Cultural Heritage," professional nail artists will create designs that celebrate cultural heritage from around the world. This can include traditional art, patterns, symbols, and motifs unique to different cultures. Contestants are encouraged to research and accurately represent the cultural elements they choose to depict, showcasing the rich diversity and history of various global traditions.

This event is not just a competition but a celebration of artistry, innovation, and cultural appreciation in the nail art community. Attendees will have the opportunity to witness the creation of stunning nail designs, gain inspiration, and network with fellow nail art enthusiasts and professionals.

General Rules for All Categories 

• Eligibility:  Open to all Nail Artists, including students and professionals. 
• Models: Each competitor can use a live model or a nail stand to showcase their artwork. If using a live model, their admission is included in the entry fee. Competitors may also model the nails themselves. 
• Tools, Products, and Hygiene: Competitors must bring their own tools and products, including but not limited to: full coverage press-on nail tips, nail polish, brushes, decals, files, buffers, UV/LED lamps, adhesive tabs, glue and any other necessary items.  Competitors can use their own nail stands or models. All tools must be clean and sanitized to adhere to safety and hygiene standards. Use of clean tools and sanitary practices is mandatory. 
• All competitors must start with New, Unadorned full coverage Press-on Nail tips to align with the theme of the competition, focusing on press-on nails. This rule is in place to ensure that all designs focus on the press-on nail format, in line with the values of Amazing K Nails as a press-on brand.
• Artistic Enhancements: Competitors are allowed to use artistic enhancements such as decals and other embellishments. Enhancements must adhere to the theme of the competition. 
• Completion Requirements: Competitors must arrive with five nails pre-prepared. During the competition, they will be required to complete the remaining five nails within 2 Hours. This allows them to showcase both their preparation and live skills during the event.
• Check-In: All competitors must check in at the registration area at least two hours prior to the competition to allow preparation time. Late arrivals will forfeit their place and their paid entry fee. 
• Competition Arena: All competitors and models must remain in the competition arena until the judges announce their decision. 
• Media Consent: By entering the competition, participants agree to be photographed and videotaped during the event. These materials may be used for promotional purposes by the event organizers. This consent extends to both competitors and their models (if applicable).
• Competition Briefing: A competition briefing will be provided in the competition arena prior to the start to ensure all participants understand the rules and procedures. 
• Sales Policy: All sales are final. 
• Liability: The event organizers are not responsible for any personal injury, loss, or damage to personal property during the event.
• Judging Process: There is no dispute process for the judging of this competition. The panel of judges and their decisions are final. 
• Payout: Minimum of 5 competitors per category required for payout

Judging Scorecard: 

1. Neatness (0-10) The cleanliness and precision of your work. No smudges, streaks, or rough edges should be visible. A neat, tidy appearance shows professionalism and care in execution.

2. Theme Adherence (0-10) How well your design follows the chosen theme (e.g., "Under the Sea" for students, "Cultural Heritage" for professionals). Judges want to see how creatively you interpret and apply the theme in your design.

3. Creativity & Originality (0-10) How innovative and unique your design is. Does it stand out as something fresh and different? Judges are looking for designs that reflect out-of-the-box thinking and new ideas.

4. Technique (0-10) The skill and precision of the technical application, including brush control, line work, and the use of tools. A strong technical foundation is essential for a professional-looking result.

5. Use of Color (0-10) How effectively you’ve used color in your design. Are the colors harmonious, contrasting, or uniquely combined to enhance the overall look? Color should complement the design and add depth to your work.

6. Attention to Detail (0-10) The intricacy and precision of small details in your design, such as line work, embellishments, or patterns. Well-executed details can elevate a design from good to exceptional.

7. Overall Visual Appeal (0-10) The general attractiveness and wow factor of the completed nail art. Judges want to see a cohesive design that grabs attention and leaves a lasting impression.

8. Completeness (0-10) Whether all 10 nails are fully designed and polished. No part of the design should look incomplete or unfinished. Each nail should contribute to the overall design, with no loose ends.

9. Seamless Application (0-10) How smoothly and seamlessly the nails are applied to the model (using adhesive tabs or other methods). The application should look natural with no visible gaps or errors, reflecting a professional-grade application.

10. Balance & Proportion (0-10) The balance and proportionality of your design across all 10 nails. Do the designs flow consistently? Is there harmony from one nail to the next? A well-balanced design should feel harmonious and even across the full set.

Each criterion will be scored on a scale of 0-10, with a total possible score of 100.
